ひどい経済状況のさなか、フルタイムの仕事を探していたアイルランド人の友人は、無事仕事をゲットしたとの報告をもらった。ものすごく良かった良かった。公務員のような仕事のようだし。

と、そんなアイルランドは今度は思いっきり経済的理由でタバコの税金が上がるかもしれない。

Cancer Society seeks €2 hike in cigarette prices

The Irish Cancer Society is renewing its call for increases taxes on cigarettes as the Government prepares to introduce a new emergency budget in the first week of April.

The organisation says a €2 increase in the price of 20 cigarettes could raise €400m in taxes.

It also says price increases during the current recession could force thousands of people to give up smoking in an effort to save money.

Cancer Societyが、っていうから「公共の場所禁煙にして数年たつけど喫煙率さがんないんじゃ意味ないじゃん」という健康的な理由から、と思って本文読んだら、a new emergency budgetって。それで４億ユーロも増収が見込めるのか。ホントか？　数千人が禁煙するかも、って書いてあるがそれも考慮に入れての概算なんだろうか。しかし、いきなり２ユーロあげるって結局いくらになるんだろう？　（アイルランド内でタバコを買ったのは10年以上も前の話）10ユーロ超えるんだろうか・・・。円高といってもそれでも20本入り１ケースが1000円超えるのか・・・。留学時代のユーロ最強時代だったら1700円。あははは。
完全禁煙すべきなんだろうか・・・。ほとんど吸ってないけど。
