RTÉ（アイルランド国営放送）ニュースによると、
The Economic and Social Research Institute has forecast that there will be no increase in employment here this year and that economic growth will slow to its lowest level for 20 years.
In its latest Quarterly Economic Commentary, the ESRI says economic activity in Ireland this year will be €3.1bn lower than had been expected just three months ago.
つまり今年は雇用はまったく延びないし、経済成長はこの二十年で最低の伸び率になるそうだ。しかも年頭に予想した経済活動予想より31億ユーロも低い、と。
終わったっぽいな、ケルティック・タイガー。
しかしそれに対して昨年三選した首相、バーティは、
The Taoiseach has told an audience of small business operators that the economy will continue to grow by impressive rates despite the current slowdown.
と、経済社会研究所の発表の二日前に自信満々に「経済は、スローダウンしているけれどもまだまだ伸びる」と。
確かに、
New figures from the Central Statistics Office show that the annual rate of inflation rose to 4.8% in February, from 4.3% the previous month.
The rise is mainly as a result of continuing increases in food prices as well as the ending of the January sales.
まあ、経済学まったく分からないので4.8%のインフレ率って言うのがよく分からないのだが、これは先月の数字なのよね。食料の値段が上がっているのが一番の要因のようで（服とか家具とかはもっと数字が小さい）、バブルはじけて２〜３年後の日本みたいね、経済にかげるが見えてるのに、普通の生活事情ではまだ終わった観が少なくて、しかも政治家たちはずいぶん楽観的、というのが。
がんばれ、アイルランド。来週の月曜日はSaint Patrick's Dayだから三連休だし、とりあえずみんないろいろ買ったりするだろうから。
